Cloud Computing Statistics 2026

This page collects 51 cloud computing statistics on market size, provider market share, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and Oracle revenue, regional spending forecasts, and how many businesses use cloud and SaaS. It draws on official surveys from Eurostat, Statistics Canada and the UK Office for National Statistics, market trackers Synergy Research Group, Omdia, IDC and Gartner, practitioner surveys from Flexera and the CNCF, and the companies' own earnings releases. Most figures describe 2025 and 2026; a few national adoption figures are from 2023, the latest survey year available.

Our reading of the data

The cloud market grew faster in 2026 than at any point in the previous decade. Synergy Research Group estimates third quarter cloud infrastructure spending at $168 billion, up 55% year over year, with trailing 12-month revenues of $558 billion. Omdia's count for the fourth quarter of 2025 was $110.9 billion with 29% growth, so the rate of growth has nearly doubled within a year. IDC's wider definition, which adds SaaS, puts total public cloud spending above $1 trillion in 2026.

Company filings explain where that growth is coming from. Google Cloud revenue rose 103% to $30.7 billion in the third quarter of 2026, Azure grew 48%, and AWS grew 39% to $46.0 billion, its fastest rate in nearly five years. Because Microsoft and Google grow faster than Amazon, Synergy shows AWS's share easing from 29% in the third quarter of 2025 to 26% a year later, while Google rose from 13% to 16%. Microsoft's $677 billion and Oracle's $664 billion in contracted backlog suggest the spending is already committed well beyond 2026.

Business adoption tells a slower story. Eurostat finds that 52.74% of EU enterprises with 10 or more employees paid for cloud in 2025, and nearly all of them bought SaaS such as email and office software. Large firms are far ahead of small ones (84.67% versus 49.3%), and the gap between Finland at 79.21% and Bulgaria at 17.83% is wider than the gap between company sizes. Statistics Canada measured 48% of Canadian businesses using cloud in 2023 and the ONS measured 69% of UK firms, each with its own definition.

Inside organizations that already run large cloud estates, the issues have shifted to cost and control. Flexera reports that 73% run hybrid cloud, that generative AI is now the third most used public cloud service at 58%, and that wasted spend rose to 29%, the first increase in five years. The CNCF finds 82% of container users running Kubernetes in production. These practitioner surveys skew toward larger, technology-heavy organizations and should not be read as economy-wide rates.

How these figures were chosen

We used primary publishers only: national statistics offices (Eurostat, Statistics Canada, the UK Office for National Statistics), market research firms' own press releases (Synergy Research Group, Omdia, IDC, Gartner), the providers' earnings releases (Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, Oracle) and the surveying organizations' own reports (Flexera, CNCF). Market size figures are not interchangeable: Synergy and Omdia measure cloud infrastructure services (IaaS, PaaS and hosted private cloud), IDC and Gartner include SaaS, and company segments bundle different products. Official adoption surveys cover all businesses above a size threshold (10 employees in the EU, five in Canada), while Flexera and CNCF survey self-selected technology professionals, so their rates are higher. Forecasts are estimates made at the publication date shown. Every quote was checked against the live source page on the date in updatedAt. Every quote was copied from the publisher's page and re-checked by our source checker. Read the methodology.
