Our reading of the data

CRM is less universal than vendors suggest. Eurostat counts 28.51% of EU enterprises using it in 2025, and the gap by size is wide: 24.69% of small firms against 65.43% of large ones. Ireland's Central Statistics Office finds 28.4%, while Statistics Finland reports 56% in Finland, the highest rate in the EU. Adoption also tracks how data-heavy a sector is, from 63.14% in information and communication to 16.43% in construction.

The market is concentrated but still growing. IDC data gave Salesforce 20.7% of CRM revenue in 2024. In 2026 earnings releases, Salesforce grew revenue 11%, HubSpot 20%, Microsoft Dynamics 365 13% and Freshworks 14%. Freshworks customers paying over $100,000 a year grew 25%, while its $5,000 tier grew 5%.

AI is now a major line in CRM vendor results. Salesforce reported Agentforce recurring revenue above $1.5 billion, up more than 240%. Gartner is more cautious about results: it predicts AI agents will outnumber sellers 10 to 1 by 2028, yet fewer than 40% of sellers will say agents improved their productivity.

Data quality decides much of what a CRM can deliver. Validity found 76% of users say less than half of their CRM data is accurate, Ebsta found 44% of the contacts sellers deal with are never recorded in the CRM, and Pipedrive found only 21% of CRM users can see a full customer picture in one tool. In Salesforce's survey, 79% of high performers prioritize data hygiene against 54% of underperformers.

How these figures were chosen

We used official statistics (Eurostat, Ireland's Central Statistics Office, Statistics Finland), company earnings releases and SEC filings (Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft, Freshworks), IDC market share data as published by Salesforce, and original surveys or data studies (Validity, Salesforce State of Sales, Pipedrive, Ebsta and Pavilion, Bain, Gartner, Nucleus Research). Every figure was checked against the source page on 2026-11-04. Official adoption data covers firms with 10 or more employees; vendor data reflects each company's own definitions of customers and recurring revenue; surveys use different samples, so figures are not directly comparable. The Nucleus Research ROI figure is from 2014 and is labeled as older. Every quote was copied from the publisher's page and re-checked by our source checker. Read the methodology.
