PrestaShop review

PrestaShop is a long-running open source platform with a strong following among European merchants. The Classic edition is free to download and install on your own server, and a Hosted offer handles the technical side for merchants who do not want to run a server. The PrestaShop Marketplace sells modules and themes for most needs. PrestaShop Checkout, built with PayPal, combines payment methods in one module, and integrations cover Stripe, Klarna, Alma, Viva.com and Airwallex. PrestaShop Social syncs the catalog with Facebook and Instagram, and a Klaviyo module automates marketing. As with WooCommerce, the free price tag hides real work: self-hosting means managing updates, security and performance, and many useful modules cost extra. The admin is less approachable than hosted builders. For merchants with a developer or agency and a need to own their stack, PrestaShop is a credible free alternative.
