Bitwarden gives away what other vendors charge for. The free plan stores unlimited passwords, passkeys, cards and notes on unlimited devices, includes a password generator and lets you share items with one other user. Premium, at $19.80 a year, adds an integrated authenticator, 5 GB of encrypted attachments, emergency access and vault health reports. The code is open source and the company publishes its security work, which matters for a product you have to trust completely. Businesses get Teams at $4 per user and Enterprise at $6, which adds SSO integration and an option to self-host. The trade-off is polish. The interface is functional rather than friendly, and autofill takes a little more setup than in 1Password. For most people that is a small price for the best value in the category.
