Zoho People is the budget HRIS with a long feature list. The free plan covers up to five users with an employee database, time off and documents. Paid tiers build up in steps: Essential HR adds onboarding, HR reports and the Zia AI bot; Professional adds attendance, timesheets and rosters; Premium adds performance, compensation and engagement; Enterprise adds an HR help desk, a learning system and a sandbox. Every paid plan has a 30-day trial and 24/5 email support. The trade-offs are polish and simplicity. Setup has many options and the admin screens are denser than BambooHR's, so expect to spend time configuring forms and workflows. For a small company that wants serious HR features for very little money, or a business already on Zoho, it is hard to beat.
